Primary Providers

A primary care provider (PCP) is a practitioner who oversees and monitors the medical care of residents in nursing homes. This person is usually a doctor, but may be a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner. These providers focus on specific resident care needs such as prevention, health maintenance, acute care, chronic care or rehabilitation and pain management. The information and tools contained in this section are meant to assist the medical team with decision making when evaluating and treating pain.
