Nursing Assistants

The Nursing Assistant (NA) is an important member of the health care team.  This person, by far, has the most day-to-day interaction with the resident, and is often the first person to realize the resident is experiencing pain. This part of the SPiNH website includes Educational Modules (or webinars) and Tools and Tips to help the NA understand their role in helping residents with their pain.  The Educational Modules are pre-recorded presentations that include downloadable slides.  The Tools and Tips section includes pain observation tools, pain reporting tools, and other information to help NAs manage pain for residents.  Start first with the educational modules and then proceed with reviewing the Tools and Tips section to supplement what you have learned and learn more about observing and addressing pain.
